There are some great websites specifically for art teachers.
I don’t know what level you are looking to teach so I can’t recommend particular sites, but I’ll check back and if you give more specifics I’ll dig some up.

it depends on the age of the child.
I used to be art history mom when my kids were in school. Once a month a mom would go to a class room and give a short history of the artist. Just basic things. For example Pointillism
I had a print out and had the kids fill in the picture with small dotts of color.
I recommend you watch a movie Mona Lisa smile with Julia Roberts. The teacher there was dealing with same staff.
